Three healthy and easy packed lunches for toddlers and pre-schoolers

The spring term is upon us and we’re excited to be back at school for the warmer weather that’s coming!

This time of year has so much produce coming into season, so we’ve put together our second instalment of healthy packed lunch ideas for your little ones to take to school this year.

The focus, as always, is on balanced, easy-to-prepare, low-processed meals that toddlers will actually want to eat.

So let’s dig in!

Deconstructed chicken wrap

Deconstructed chicken wrap for toddler’s packed lunch

Ingredients

  • Crosta mollica wrap cut into triangles
  • Shredded chicken (the M&S packet chicken is the best, mimally-processed one we can find)
  • Red pepper slices
  • Yoghurt and smoked paprika sauce

Side

  • Cucumber sticks

Desert

  • Natural/Greek yoghurt with berries

Baby ploughman’s

Baby ploughman’s packed lunch idea

Ingredients

  • 3 sticks of cheddar (15-20gs worth, pictured is 20g)
  • Mini cherry tomatoes (halved)
  • Baby Gem lettuce leaves (or any lettuce!)

Side

  • Low-salt crackers

(Peter’s yard sourdough crackers are good ones with simple ingredients!)

Desert

  • Slices of apple (you can drizzle lemon juice over to stop them going brown)

Last night’s pasta

Last night’s pasta packed lunch for toddlers

Ingredients

  • Leftover pasta is great served cold the next day ! Grate some cheese over it for extra calcium boost

Last night we had a simple mackerel tomato pasta, so I kept a portion to pop in the lunchbox for the next day. Doesn’t get any easier than that!

Side

  • Celery sticks

Desert

  • Chopped fruit (watermelon/melon)
