Finding healthy snacks for kids can pretty much be an impossible task in the supermarket these days.
There seems to have been an explosion of puffs, biscuits and dried-fruit snacks which claim to be a "healthy" option when in actual fact they are classed as ultra-processed and can be much more expensive than the foods they claim to imitate!
Many parents will be left thinking that it's just healthier to make some snacks at home, but we all know that finding the time and energy is easier said than done!
So we wanted to share one of our simplest and quickest recipes to make delicious homemade snacks at home in under 20 minutes.
Roll your sleeves up and get your little one involved, we promise these will be a hit!
Prep and cooking time: 20 mins (yes, actually!)
Makes around 50 mini biscuits
INGREDIENTS
- 1 large very ripe Banana
- 2 Tbs Peanut Butter (Try to use one with as few additives and salt as possible!)
- 180g of self raising flour
INSTRUCTIONS
- In a bowl, mash the banana with the back of your fork and stir in the peanut butter to form a mixture.
- Pour in the flour and combine to form a dough using a spoon or your hands. (This can be a great step to get your little one involved in!)
- Roll out the dough to around 1/2 a cm in thickness.
- Cut into your desired shapes (they can be anything!) and trim off any excess dough, to repeat the process.
- Cook in the oven at 180c for 10-12 mins till cooked. Leave to cool before serving.
We also love these biscuits because they're an easy way to keep peanut in your baby's diet!
Enjoy!
